Rescue Thursday...

Rescue Today!

With millions of dogs sitting in shelters across the USA, why would anyone not adopt their next pet?  These dogs are so full of love and joy to share with the right family.  There are tons to choose from, one surely to meet everyone's preference.  Big, small and lots of in between sizes to choose from in about any color you prefer.  Old ones, young ones and perfectly trained ones too!  Calm and mellow, couch bound lap dogs or highly energetic ones for those who love to play and explore!  The choice is yours and with so many shelters around you can go to a few and let a dog pick you!

These two guys were adopted into the same home and are now the best of buds!

Toxic Dog Treats

Toxic Treats

There are many foods that we love that are not so good for our beloved dogs.  I know it can be irresistible to not want to cave at times when they give you that "look."  But some foods we eat are quite toxic for dogs and so it is best to stick with natural dog treats for your K9.  There is an Animal Poison Control Center that is a great resource to use for questions, 888-426-4435.
So what kind of treats are good for dogs?  Some people food items such as carrot sticks are fine for them, chicken meat and red bell peppers as well.  My dogs love the small baby carrots!   Our chicken jerky is from the USA.  In our chicken jerky we use only hormone free chicken breast meat that is naturally easy for your dog to digest.  Our chicken jerky is made in only USDA approved meat facilities that do NOT process any pet food, only people food.  Our meat is actually HUMAN grade and editable to us.  We add less than 1% of water and sea salt to our jerky and so it is such a smart choice for your pet.

Please remember that pets can become obese just as humans can.  It is best to limit their treats to ones that are low in fat and high in protein.  Our chicken jerky is our #1 seller amongst all of our products.  The proper amount of treats to give your pooch in one day should be no more than 10% of their daily food intake.  And one of the best "treats" you can truly give your dog is good old love, attention and EXERCISE.  So get out there today for a walk with your dog, show some LOVE and treat them afterwards to some Smartdog Chicken Jerky.  Available online at http://www.smartdogjerky.com/

These are our small split elk antler chews.  My two little dogs just love these and I am so happy at how long they last!   They are very nutritious with natural calcium and phosphorus in them and we use only "naturally shed" antlers.  Someone from Northern Idaho area actually walks the land looking for these antlers after they were "naturally" shed by the Elk.  I think it is so cool that he does that and he takes boy-scouts along to help.  After the antlers are collected they are shaved down and cut to sell.  These antlers do not sliver like some bones may. I encourage you to try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Our direct link to purchase them is:  http://www.smartdogjerky.com/store/index.php/jerky/small-split-elk-antler-dog-treats.html

This is Phaneuf and here is her story...

Phaneuf is a border collie mix rescued in a Las Vegas shelter in the summer of 2008 when she was about 9 months old. She was great at jumping, barking, and crazy, but she also had some anti-social issues with dogs and some people, but boy did she love a ball! One of our Sit Means Sit dog trainers saw her and thought she might be ‘special’, so we took her home. Now, with her training she goes to work every day, doing demonstrations for new clients, dogs, schools, street fairs and expo events. She lives with two other dogs, a cat, and two young girls. She loves frisbee, ball, the hose – anything she can fetch again and again! She’s very controllable in social situations, but she’s still choosy about her friends...
